The short answer
A midsize jet from Teterboro to Jackson Hole takes about four hours and twenty minutes westbound and a little under four hours coming back, and a one-way charter in that category usually costs between about $20,000 and $42,000. A light jet costs less but may need a fuel stop when the westerly winds are strong. Jackson Hole Airport is inside Grand Teton National Park, sits at 6,451 feet and has a single 6,300-foot runway, so performance and fuel loads matter more than they do at sea level. What most people don't know: the airport asks private aircraft not to take off or land between 9:30 pm and 7 am, a window it widened in 2022, and it bars any aircraft whose approach noise exceeds 92 dBA, so a late arrival is a planning issue and not just a courtesy.

What goes into the price
Jackson Hole is priced mostly on the flight time, about four and a half hours westbound and a little under four coming back. Positioning adds to it. An aircraft that flies you out usually has to fly home empty, and fly out empty again if you want a return.
The rest is the usual:
- the 7.5% federal excise tax and a $5.30 per-passenger segment fee in 2026
- handling at Teterboro and at Jackson Hole
- catering
- de-icing in winter, when the airport reports severe conditions are possible from November to April
Fees at Jackson Hole. We could not find a published landing fee or ramp fee schedule for private aircraft. The airport’s FBO, Jackson Hole Flight Services, is in Grand Teton National Park with no hangar, and it requires prior permission for overnight parking. Jake gets the fees in writing before you commit.
What makes this route cheaper or more expensive
Season. The ski season and the summer weeks are the busy times at the airport, according to NBAA. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort opens on November 27, 2026.
Aircraft choice. Westbound the route stretches a light jet’s range, so a midsize jet is often the safer fit. A heavy jet costs more per hour.
Overnight stays. The FBO needs prior permission for overnight parking and there is no hangar. A crew that has to wait for the morning departure window costs more than one that leaves the same day.
Empty legs on this route
Aircraft often fly to Jackson Hole full in winter and return empty. That is broker experience and follows from how the trips are flown, not a published statistic. Charter Jet One’s own figure for the saving is up to 75%.
Two illustrative examples:
- Eastbound. A midsize jet has dropped a family in Jackson Hole and is heading back to the East Coast empty. You could fly east with it.
- Westbound. A super-midsize is positioning to Jackson Hole to collect a group on Sunday. You could fly out with it.
These show how empty legs arise. They aren’t flights for sale. They follow the operator’s timing and can change at short notice.
Departing from Teterboro
Teterboro is about 12 miles from Midtown, roughly 22 minutes in free-flow traffic. It has runways of 6,997 and 6,014 feet and FBOs from Jet Aviation, Atlantic and Signature. The airport asks for voluntary restraint from 11 pm to 6 am. A westbound morning departure to Jackson Hole is clear of that, and because Jackson Hole is two hours behind New York you arrive earlier on the clock than the flight time suggests.
Arriving at Jackson Hole
The airport. Jackson Hole Airport (JAC) is about 7 miles north of the town of Jackson, inside Grand Teton National Park. By road it is about 10 miles and 17 minutes without traffic to Jackson.
The runway. There is one, 1/19, 6,300 feet by 150 feet, at a field elevation of 6,451 feet. The airport’s own notes say the 950-foot paved area at the departure end of runway 19 cannot be used for performance calculations.
Hours. The tower is open from 7 am to 9:30 pm, and the airport is attended from 6:45 am to 9:30 pm.
The FBO. Jackson Hole Flight Services is the FBO listed with the FAA. It is inside the park, has no hangar, and requires prior permission for overnight parking.
Ground transport. Jake arranges a car to meet you.
The park, the noise rules and the curfew
The airport operates under an agreement with Grand Teton National Park. NBAA reports that the airport’s lease with the park service runs to 2053. The rules that follow from that matter for charter planning:
- Curfew. The airport asks private aircraft not to take off or land between 9:30 pm and 7 am. The board approved those hours in September 2022. Before that, the voluntary hours were 11:30 pm to 6 am for arrivals and 6 am to 10 pm for departures. The curfew is voluntary because federal law prevents the airport from enforcing it, but it counts in the Fly Quiet scorecard for private operators.
- Noise limit. A mandatory single-event limit bars any aircraft whose approach noise level exceeds 92 dBA. Stage 2 aircraft have been prohibited from landing since June 28, 2004.
- Flight paths. Runway 19 is the preferred departure runway, with a left turn of 45 degrees as soon as practical to avoid residential areas. Runway 1 is the preferred arrival runway. Aircraft stay at least 3,000 feet above ground over the park and east of the Snake River.
A flight that lands at 10 pm is not illegal, but it counts against the operator in the program. Jake plans arrivals before 9:30 pm.
Runway work
The runway was fully rebuilt in 2022. The airport closed from April 11 to June 27, a 78-day window, for the first full reconstruction since the 1970s. The project cost about $43.8 million. A first phase, in July to October 2021, was done at night while the airport stayed open. We found no announced runway closure for 2026 or 2027. Jake checks the airport’s notices and NOTAMs for your dates.
Altitude, performance and winter
Jackson Hole is 6,451 feet above sea level, and the airport sits in a valley with the Teton Range to the west. The FAA Chart Supplement lists several points that matter to a crew:
- aircraft that do not touch down in the first third of the runway may be unable to stop
- trees 35 to 53 feet tall stand 700 to 800 feet west of the runway 1 threshold
- an altitude correction applies at or below minus 21 degrees Celsius
- severe winter conditions are possible from November through April, and snow removal and airport information are not guaranteed outside attended hours
- special alternate minimums and special takeoff minimums apply
NBAA adds that at this elevation many aircraft leave with less than full tanks, which limits the fuel they can carry for the trip back east. That is why a light jet is marked Marginal in the table above. This part of the trip is for the operator and crew to judge on the day, so Jake asks for their fuel plan and an alternate.

Which aircraft fits best
A midsize jet such as a Citation Latitude is a good fit for six to eight people, with the range to make the trip nonstop in most winds. A super-midsize such as a Challenger 350 adds range and cabin for eight or nine. A light jet can do the flight, but it is the one most affected by headwinds and the fuel limit at Jackson Hole. A heavy jet is available, and the operator confirms takeoff performance for the day.
How Jake handles this route
Jake confirms the operator is ARGUS Gold or Platinum rated and asks for the crew’s fuel plan and alternate, because Jackson Hole’s elevation and winter weather limit the choices. He plans arrivals and departures outside the airport’s 9:30 pm to 7 am quiet window, checks the airport’s notices for runway or ramp work, and arranges a car to meet you. He often meets clients on the ramp at Teterboro before departure.
Questions people ask about Teterboro to Jackson Hole
How long is the private jet flight from New York to Jackson Hole?
About 4 hours 30 minutes westbound in a light jet and about 4 hours 5 minutes in a super-midsize, gate to gate, from Teterboro. Coming back with the tailwind takes roughly 35 minutes less. The great-circle distance is about 1,626 nautical miles.
How much does a private jet to Jackson Hole cost?
Roughly $16,000 to $35,000 one way in a light jet and $20,000 to $42,000 in a midsize jet, as an estimate for October 2026. Peak winter and summer dates sit at the top of the range or above it.
Is there a curfew at Jackson Hole Airport?
Yes, a voluntary one. Since September 2022 the airport has asked general aviation not to take off or land between 9:30 pm and 7 am. The curfew is voluntary because federal law prevents the airport from enforcing it, but the hours count toward the airport's Fly Quiet scorecard for private operators.
Why is a private jet's noise an issue at Jackson Hole?
The airport sits inside Grand Teton National Park under an operating agreement with the park. Aircraft above 92 dBA on approach are not allowed, Stage 2 aircraft have been banned since 2004, and pilots are asked to stay 3,000 feet above ground over the park and east of the Snake River.
Has the runway at Jackson Hole been closed for work?
Yes. The runway was fully rebuilt in 2022 during a closure from April 11 to June 27, the first full reconstruction since the 1970s. The project cost about $43.8 million. We found no announced runway closure for 2026 or 2027, and Jake checks the notices for your dates.
Can a large private jet land at Jackson Hole?
The runway is 6,300 feet long at 6,451 feet above sea level, and the airport's own pilot notes say the 950-foot paved area past the end of runway 19 cannot be used in performance calculations. Larger aircraft do operate there, and the deicing pads are sized for two Boeing 757-200s, but the operator has to confirm takeoff performance for the day's temperature and weight.
Why do some jets leave Jackson Hole with less fuel?
NBAA reports that because of the altitude many aircraft leave Jackson Hole with less than full tanks. On a long flight that can mean a fuel stop on the way back east, even when the westbound leg was nonstop.
What is the winter like for flying into Jackson Hole?
The Chart Supplement warns of severe conditions from November through April, with snow removal and airport information not guaranteed outside the airport's attended hours. The airport is attended from 6:45 am to 9:30 pm and the tower is open from 7 am to 9:30 pm.
How far is Jackson Hole Airport from the town of Jackson?
The airport is about 7 miles north of Jackson in a straight line, and about 10 miles and 17 minutes by road without traffic.
When does Jackson Hole Mountain Resort open for the 2026 to 2027 season?
Friday, November 27, 2026, according to the resort's announcement. Ikon Pass and Mountain Collective holders need to make reservations because the resort manages daily capacity.
