The short answer

A private jet from Teterboro to Providenciales, the main airport in Turks and Caicos, takes about three hours, and light jets and larger fly it nonstop. A one-way charter usually costs between about $21,000 and $36,000 in a light jet, because the aircraft normally returns empty. What most people don't know: the airport's published after-hours charges start at 8 pm local time, and Providenciales has no US preclearance, so the flight home must reach Teterboro before customs closes at 11:15 pm. A late departure from the island can cost you both.

How much does a private jet from Teterboro to Turks and Caicos cost?

Estimated ranges as of October 2026, in US dollars, International flights pay the US international arrival and departure tax ($23.40 per passenger each way in 2026) instead of the 7.5% excise tax. Turks and Caicos passenger charges of about $60 per adult are extra, and landing and handling fees are quoted per trip. These are estimates from published hourly rates, not quotes.

What goes into the price

At three hours each way, the flight time is most of the bill.

Flight time. The operator’s hourly rate for about three hours each way.

Positioning. If you stay a weekend, the aircraft usually waits. For a week, it often flies home and comes back. A one-way trip normally includes the empty return.

International taxes. The flight is international, so the 7.5% excise tax doesn’t apply to it. The US international arrival and departure tax does: $23.40 per passenger for each US departure and arrival in 2026.

Turks and Caicos passenger charges. The Airports Authority lists a $29 international departure tax, an $8 security charge per adult, a $20 airport development charge and a $3 terminal user fee at Providenciales. That adds up to $60 per adult. The operator collects them. Some exclude children under two.

Landing, parking and handling. The authority bases landing fees on aircraft weight, and its parking rates are in a table we could not read. The first two hours of parking are free. The operator quotes these per trip.

After-hours charges. See below.

What makes this route cheaper or more expensive

Holidays. Atlantic Aviation flags November 25 to 29 and December 24, 2026 to January 3, 2027 for extra ramp congestion. Aircraft and parking are scarcest then.

Aircraft size. The flight is under three hours for every category from light jet up, so a larger jet adds hourly cost for only a few minutes saved.

Length of stay. A short stay means paying for the waiting aircraft or for a double empty leg. Jake prices both.

Empty legs on this route

Aircraft heading home from Providenciales may fly back to the Northeast empty, and the reverse after a delivery. We have no published data on how often. Charter Jet One’s figure for the discount is up to 75%.

An illustrative example: a midsize jet leaves a family at Providenciales on a Saturday and is due back at Teterboro that evening. A traveller on the island could fly it home for less. This shows how an empty leg arises. It isn’t a flight on offer, and it runs on the operator’s timing.

Departing from Teterboro

Teterboro is about 12 miles from Midtown, roughly 22 minutes in free-flow traffic. Its runways are 6,997 and 6,014 feet, and it has Jet Aviation, Atlantic and several Signature terminals. The airport asks for voluntary restraint from 11 pm to 6 am. A morning departure is the sensible choice for this trip, since it lands you in daylight and leaves time to clear customs before the airport’s evening hours.

Bring passports for everyone, including children, and give the operator the names and passport details before the flight.

Arriving in Providenciales

The airport. Providenciales International (MBPV) has one runway, 10/28, 7,598 by 148 feet. AirNav lists the tower and ground hours as 1100 to 0100 UTC, and notes that data for foreign airports may be incomplete.

The FBOs. There are three: Atlantic Aviation, Provo Air Center and Business Aviation. Atlantic lists hours of 7 am to 8 pm daily, with on-call service by prior arrangement. Provo Air Center says it is the closest FBO to the resorts.

Customs and immigration. Your first landing in the islands must be at a port of entry: Providenciales, South Caicos or Grand Turk. Atlantic lists customs among its services. Confirm with the FBO who handles clearance and at what time.

Screening. From January 13, 2025, Atlantic says departing passengers and baggage on commercial Part 135 aircraft above 10,000 kg maximum take-off mass are screened by airport security officers. Most charter jets on this route are lighter, but the FBO confirms for your aircraft.

After-hours charges and the evening deadline

The Airports Authority publishes surcharges for landings after 8 pm local:

Landing time Surcharge
8:00 to 8:59 pm 50% of the landing fee or $50, whichever is greater
9:00 to 9:59 pm 50% of the landing fee or $100, whichever is greater
10 pm to 5:59 am The standard night charge plus $80 an hour or part of an hour

The charges matter on the day you arrive and the day you leave, because Atlantic’s hours end at 8 pm and the surcharges begin then. A late departure from New York can land after 8 pm. Plan a departure that gets you in by mid-afternoon.

Entering Turks and Caicos

  • Visa. US citizens do not need one, according to the official tourism site.
  • Passport and ticket. All visitors need a valid passport and a return or onward ticket.
  • Other nationalities. Rules vary. Tell Jake each traveller’s nationality, and he confirms the requirements.
  • Forms. The tourism page doesn’t mention an online arrival form or an entry fee. We couldn’t confirm whether one exists, so Jake checks the official site before you fly.

Coming home

The operator files the US advance passenger manifest and asks for permission to land. CBP’s Teterboro fact sheet says to ask at least two hours before leaving the foreign airport. Teterboro has customs on the field, open 7:30 am to 11:15 pm daily.

CBP’s preclearance list covers sixteen airports in Canada, Ireland, the Caribbean (Nassau, Bermuda and Aruba) and Abu Dhabi. Providenciales isn’t on it, so you clear US customs on arrival at Teterboro.

The evening rule. A flight home takes about three hours. To land before 11:15 pm, with margin for the customs inspection, the aircraft should leave Providenciales by about 5 pm local time, and before about 7:30 pm at the very latest. Jake sets the plan with the operator before you go.

Which aircraft fits best

A light jet such as a Phenom 300E flies the route nonstop, but with a full cabin and bags the operator checks fuel carefully. A midsize jet is more comfortable for a week away with luggage. A super-midsize or heavy jet suits groups of eight to twelve, with room for beach and dive gear. All of them take about three hours.

How Jake handles this route

Jake collects passport details early so the operator can file the advance manifest, then confirms the FBO’s hours, the passenger charges and the after-hours rules for your dates. He plans the return to reach Teterboro before customs closes. He checks the operator is ARGUS Gold or Platinum rated, arranges a car at both ends, and often meets clients on the ramp at Teterboro.

Questions people ask about Teterboro to Turks and Caicos

How long is the private jet flight from New York to Turks and Caicos?

About three hours from Teterboro to Providenciales in a light jet, gate to gate. The great-circle distance is about 1,149 nautical miles, and a midsize or larger jet saves only five to ten minutes.

How much does a private jet to Providenciales cost?

Roughly $21,000 to $36,000 one way in a light jet and $26,000 to $43,500 in a midsize, as an estimate for October 2026. A one-way trip often carries the aircraft's empty return, so it can cost nearly as much as a round trip.

Do I need a visa for Turks and Caicos?

Not as a US citizen. The official tourism site says US, Canadian, UK and EU nationals do not need a visa, and that all visitors need a valid passport and a return or onward ticket. A charter return normally satisfies the ticket rule.

Where does a private jet clear customs in Turks and Caicos?

Your first landing must be at a port of entry. The tourism site lists three: Providenciales, South Caicos and Grand Turk. For a jet from New York it is nearly always Providenciales, where Atlantic Aviation lists customs among its services.

What are the airport charges at Providenciales?

The airports authority lists a $29 international departure tax, an $8 security charge, a $20 airport development charge and a $3 terminal user fee. That is $60 per adult, collected by the operator. Some exclude children under two.

Are there after-hours charges at Providenciales?

Yes. Landing between 8 pm and 8:59 pm costs 50% of the landing fee or $50, whichever is greater. Between 9 pm and 9:59 pm it is 50% or $100, and from 10 pm to 5:59 am an extra $80 an hour applies. Atlantic Aviation's listed hours are 7 am to 8 pm.

Can I clear US customs in Providenciales before flying home?

No. CBP's preclearance list has sixteen locations in six countries, and none is in Turks and Caicos. You clear US customs when you land at a US airport of entry, such as Teterboro.

What are the hours for US customs at Teterboro?

Teterboro's customs on the field is open from 7:30 am to 11:15 pm every day. CBP's fact sheet asks the operator to request permission to land at least two hours before leaving the foreign airport.

When is the busiest time to fly to Providenciales?

Atlantic Aviation names November 25 to 29 and December 24, 2026 to January 3, 2027 as holiday periods with extra ramp congestion. Book the aircraft and the return slot early for those dates.

Is Providenciales the only airport for a private jet?

It is the only one with full FBO service for jets. Providenciales has three FBOs: Atlantic Aviation, Provo Air Center and Business Aviation. Some smaller islands have airstrips, but you must first clear in at a port of entry.
